Dental Practice Accreditation
Dental Practice accreditation is evolving as a result of the Federal and State Health ministers introducing the National Safety Health Standards that will be applied to many health areas. The Australian Commission of Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) are developing this guidelines. This government body have indicated that small facilities performing surgical procedures (such as dentistry and cosmetic surgery) should come under the new national umbrella of accreditation and that such accreditation be mandatory (ADA).
The accreditation process will address practice performance in relation to the NSQHS Standards with the use of self-performance processes and outside agency reviews. Dental practices will be able to implement required changes with the help of independent agencies.
